It is interesting to me how some place blame or accuse others of gloating. Really it is what it is. We try and ssucceed or possibly fail. It doesnt always go well and thats just the way it is. There are outside forces beyond anyones control that can divert a perfect path to an imperfect path. Take it with a grain of salt, keep a good attitude and fight the good fight. No one gets through life with no troubles. Accept it without placing blame, thats life.Blessings.
“I don’t know anybody who has a perfect credit score,” said Rod Griffin, director of public education for Experian, one of the three major credit bureaus, whose California company provided the basis for Pavelka’s score.
Your payment history is the key factor that helps to determine your credit score. In the simplest terms, your payment history is based on how often you pay at least the minimum payment on your bills on time. However, some of the other factors aren’t so simple. The second most important factor is the amount you owe, which is based on the amount of credit you have available compared to the amount of debt you have. This is called your credit utilization ration, and it matters because lenders believe you are more likely to miss payments if your credit cards are maxed out.
Have you looked at your score since you got the secured card? (Here’s how to monitor your credit score for free.) You’re not far from having a score that is considered “fair” (650-699) rather than poor, and that will give you more options for credit cards. And yes, a higher limit could help, because part of your credit score is related to how much of your available credit you are actually using. (Try to keep is below 30%; below 10% is even better.) But paying on time, which you are already doing, is the very best thing you can do for your credit. You’ll find other tips here:
Your credit score is one of the most important determining factors for your future. It could be the one thing that determines whether you are able to get a loan for a new home or keep renting. It can impact how high the interest rates on your car, home, and student loans are. The better your credit score is, the less you’ll have to pay for borrowing money.
It’s hard for me to say what the first thing you should do is since I don’t know what your challenges are. Have you obtained your free credit report card from Credit.com? I have always……………had good credit. When you read the report is is in,very good. HOWEVER, 9 years ago, a greedy Atty, who sent a bill 5x higher than he said the cost would be, (and by the way never did the work!), waited 3 years until after he knew I moved out of state TO FILE A SUIT IN SMALL CLAIMS COURT.

Credit scores are used by lenders, including banks providing mortgage loans, credit card companies, and even car dealerships financing auto purchases, to make decisions about whether or not to offer your credit (such as a credit card or loan) and what the terms of the offer (such as the interest rate or down payment) will be. There are many different types of credit scores. FICO® Scores and scores by VantageScore are two of the most common types of credit scores, but industry-specific scores also exist.
A 798 credit score is considered an excellent credit score. If you have a score in this range (FICO score 750 – 850), you’re almost certain to be approved for loans and credit cards. Even better, you’ll be offered the most favorable interest rates and terms on both credit cards and loans. Maintaining credit this high is a good sign that you’re on the right track.
While it is great to get a ‘free’ score from credit.com, they miss the mark compared to the actuals due to estimation of a credit score. Credit.com has me in the mid to high 700’s while my actual (on the 850 scale) is over 800. Caveat emptor!!!
Cleveland credit guru Jay Seaton, president of Consumer Credit Counseling of Northeast Ohio, said it’s possible Pavelka’s near-perfect score was the ultimate alignment of the planets. If someone had checked his score a week later, or today, it might be only 835. Or it could be 849. Credit scores swing slightly on what bill you just paid or what you just charged.
He put part of his purchase on his new credit account and paid the rest with Bass Pro gift cards he bought at Giant Eagle (during a double Fuel Perks promotion). He bought the gift cards with his BP Visa credit card, which gives him gas rebates.
The very best thing you can do is pay all your debts on time and whittle down the balances on your credit cards. (Experts recommend using no more than 30% of your overall limit, and less is even better.) If you do that and keep accounts open, you’ll start restoring your credit score — and eventually become eligible for credit products with friendlier terms.

The NextGen Score is a scoring model designed by the FICO company for assessing consumer credit risk. This score was introduced in 2001, and in 2003 the second generation of NextGen was released. FICO NextGen score is between 150 and 950.
Would it hurt my credit score applying for a personal loan at this moment just starting to rebuild my credit, I have a low score because never had credit in my years of life. I am opening a savings account with $1000.00 and use it as collateral to borrow $500.00 and make some credit with a bank. Would this help my credit to boost it up more faster?
And PS, when my brother short sold his home, his credit took a 50pt hit for about a year, then actually increased higher than it originally started (due to less in-debtness afterward). So you definitely have more going on than you speak of….

If you’ve been building your credit and have made it to 600, you might qualify for some products that were out of reach before, but you’ll pay more to borrow than you would if your score were higher. Still, if your options until now have been truly terrible, these less-than-stellar terms might feel like a godsend.
It’s not easy to just ‘quit living paycheck to paycheck’. Most people that do don’t have a choice because they don’t have the money to do otherwise. Granted, they are unlikely to be a safe bet to loan money to, but that’s the way it is. It is far too easy to talk about people just doing things differently when you don’t live the same way as they do. Paycheck to paycheck is *the* reality for a lot of people.
Pre-collect Letter Service: Many NACM Affiliates will send two or three effective, money-producing letters, usually 10 days apart, to a past-due customer. Each letter is progressively stronger and stresses the importance of paying before the account is assigned for collection. If the debtor fails to respond during the pre-collect period, the account automatically receives immediate action service.
You can get personal information about what is hurting your credit score the most. When you check your credit score from Experian, you’ll get a list of the individual factors that are impacting your score. To improve your credit score, work on these factors first.
The most popular statistical technique used is logistic regression to predict a binary outcome: bad debt or no bad debt. Some banks also build regression models that predict the amount of bad debt a customer may incur. Typically this is much harder to predict, and most banks focus only on the binary outcome.
Credit scores reflect the information in your credit report. To get good scores, you must take care of your credit report. Instead of focusing on the number, work to maintain a good credit history. You will probably never get a perfect credit score, but that shouldn’t be your goal.
