Maybe mistakes on your reports have dragged down your score. If your information has been mixed with someone else’s, for instance, that’s a fairly easy problem to address. Simply dispute the errors with the credit bureau.
There are consumer trend tools available that track the originations for credit applications regarding mortgages, credit cards, and auto and student loans. By watching these tools and paying close attention to current credit trends, we can find ways to warn of potential problems that may exist in a particular market. We can also use this valuable information to further research how credit trends and credit issues are affecting consumers.
Do you have some kind of credit monitoring service with Experian? If you don’t then I would be concerned that this is some kind of phishing attempt to get your personal information. If you do have their service, then it sounds like you have reached a credit score goal…
I’m seeing a lot of young people with this type of credit. A high score doesn’t always equate to good credit, or even if you have a high score, lenders will not always pick up for a loan. Young people tend to have hyper inflated scores because in reality, they have no credit. 1 year of paying off your card is not good enough. Lenders don’t really start taking you serious until you have had quite a few years under your belt. It took me about 3 years to get a good visa card from my credit union with a limit of $7500, and only then they did it after I had several installment loans that I paid off, and an auto loan. In the same way, not using your credit but having several open accounts is also bad. Lenders will the potential debt you could get into, and if you have 10 cards with $1000 limits each,  you have the potential debt of $10,000 and they actually take that into consideration when they look at your debt to income ratio. The best way is to open maybe 2 cards (major cards not store as they have high interest rates) and use them only occassionally being sure to pay them off in 1 month.
Most people carry some sort of debt these days, whether it be a mortgage, outstanding credit card balances, or some type of personal loan. But paying down your debt, particularly on high interest balances outside of your mortgage, can go a long way in helping out your credit score.
We shouldn’t use our credit cards as an instant loan for things we can’t afford? What happens when you need something right away like a car repair and don’t have the money? Save up for it instead? What if you don’t make enough money to save? It’s so easy to say you can pay off credit card(s) in full every month when you have the sufficient income to do so but what do you do when you lose a job at no fault of your own and can’t get another one right away to pay your bills on time or at all? BTW, my elders did a fantastic job at raising me, religiously or not; the true problem lies with those in the work place who can’t seem to accept and allow people to remain at a job which reasonably leads to people defaulting on their credit!
Credit scores are used by lenders, including banks providing mortgage loans, credit card companies, and even car dealerships financing auto purchases, to make decisions about whether or not to offer your credit (such as a credit card or loan) and what the terms of the offer (such as the interest rate or down payment) will be. There are many different types of credit scores. FICO® Scores and scores by VantageScore are two of the most common types of credit scores, but industry-specific scores also exist.
Pippy – It’s very hard to tell. Have you ordered copies of your credit reports? It’s possible there is a mistake on them. Or their could be a collection account you aren’t aware of (such as a medical bill that went to collections). Here’s how to get your free annual credit reports. That’s where I suggest you start.
Achieving a perfect credit score isn’t necessary, but checking your credit scores and reports is. If you’re not tracking your credit on a regular basis, then you don’t know whether your scores are heading in the right — or wrong — direction.
The average American doesn’t even reach the “Good” level for their credit score. If you find that you are falling under the average, you don’t need to worry. In about 12 month’s time, you should be able to significantly improve your credit score if you are responsible with your credit. If you are planning to take out a car loan, then you could raise your score during those 12 months, save up for a larger down payment, and in the end get the car you want, pay less in interest, and have it paid off sooner.
Fair Isaac Corp. produces the credit scoring algorithm used for the majority of lending decisions in the United States. Most FICO scores range from 300 to 850, and the higher the score, the better. (Some versions of the FICO score, such as those for the auto and credit card industries, are on different scales.)
Experian has the Plus Score for educational use only with a score range between 330 and 830. Equifax has the Equifax Credit Score of between 280 and 850. TransUnion’s New Account Score in the website Credit Karma is between 300 and 850, and Experian National Equivalency Score in Credit Sesame and Credit.com ranges from 360 to 840. CreditXpert offers a simulation score to estimate the impact various actions on a score range of 350 to 850. Several websites (TransUnion, Equifax, Credit Karma, Credit Sesame etc.) offer different credit scores to consumers.
That’s a tough break man and I feel for you, but that kinda drives the point home. This isn’t a debate about fairness of job opportunities and longevity. In that situation you are a risk to a lender. Someone in a bad situation who you can’t be certain can pay back the loan. The score is a risk factor rating. The simplest example I can give is breaking it down to it’s most basic form. Someone wants to borrow money from you. A complete stranger. It’s not about how much you want to help someone in need. You have to decide based on how likely it is that person can pay you back when they’re supposed to. Are you more or less likely to believe they can pay you when they don’t have a job and already have outstanding debt and/or a plethora of other financial obligations?
If you’ve been building your credit and have made it to 600, you might qualify for some products that were out of reach before, but you’ll pay more to borrow than you would if your score were higher. Still, if your options until now have been truly terrible, these less-than-stellar terms might feel like a godsend.
Um, not exactly true. I am over 50, have not had a car loan in a decade and all of my homes have been paid in full for almost 10 years. I literally have zero debt except for using credit cards. I use credit cards, paid off each month, instead of carrying much cash and my FICO score, as of today, is 840.
As shown in WalletHub’s 800 Credit Score analysis, 14.5% of people have a credit score of 800 or higher. This credit score qualifies as perfect, since improving your score further is unlikely to save you money on loans, lines of credit, or car insurance – you can qualify for pretty much any credit card or loan you want. A credit score of 800 or higher means that you’ve been using loans, credit cards and other lines of credit responsibly for several years, paying your monthly bills on time and keeping your credit report clear of negative information. Hope this helps!
You might be — or there could be a big car repair, a medical emergency and a roof leak at pretty much the same time. Good credit does not have to be used, but it can be handy in an emergency. And there is, as you point out, a factor of ease and safety. Travel reservations and easier and more secure, and credit cards have chargeback rights that cash and debit cards do not. But it is absolutely not necessary to be in debt to maintain good credit.
I raised my score 200 points in 3 years with alot of hard work…got a personal loan and now have 3 credit cards instead of 11….pay before the due date..dont use over 30% of your credit line…pay balance every month..if you dont need it dont buy it!!!!  Maintain your residance…dont keep moving every couple years…lendars look at that though they wont tell you it effects your outcome!!   By the way…my score was 560 41 months ago !!!
Credit scores convey a lot of information. And you can learn a great deal about the nature of credit-score perfection as well as how to achieve it by analyzing the profiles of people with an 850 rating. So let’s take a quick look at some of their common traits:
If a person gets an injunction to pay issued by the Enforcement Authority, it is possible to dispute it. Then the party requesting the payment must show its correctness in district court. Failure to dispute is seen as admitting the debt. If the debtor loses the court trial, costs for the trial are added to the debt. Taxes and authority fees must always be paid on demand unless payment has already been made.[18]
It also does not help when the stock market crashes twice in the final 8 years of a person’s working years. There is nothing worse than having to live on Social Security because all you worked for in 45 years went down the tubes. That happened to a dear friend of mine who spent many years since high school and the military working as a mechanic. The only thing that allows him to live on SS is because his health care is free with the VA from his military during Vietnam. And his non-taxable income (tiny) as a Commander at an American Legion.

35%: payment history: This is best described as the presence or lack of derogatory information. Bankruptcy, liens, judgments, settlements, charge offs, repossessions, foreclosures, and late payments can cause a FICO score to drop.
Having good credit is important because it determines whether you’ll qualify for a loan. And, depending on the interest rate of the loan you qualify for, it could mean the difference between hundreds and even thousands of dollars in savings. A good credit score could also mean that you are able to rent the apartment you want, or even get cell phone service that you need.
Credit scores are often used in determining prices for auto and homeowner’s insurance. Starting in the 1990s, the national credit reporting agencies that generate credit scores have also been generating more specialized insurance scores, which insurance companies then use to rate the insurance risk of potential customers.[20][21] Studies indicate that the majority of those who are insured pay less in insurance through the use of scores.[22][23] These studies point out that people with higher scores have fewer claims.

Start of the day was callings patients and reviewing their medical claims for collection or to resolve any issues. Management was okay. My co-workers were great. The hardest part of my job was lack of respect from Management.
“The most important thing about a credit score is not the actual number, but the factors that contributed to the calculation of that score,” says Henson. “The score factors are the actionable pieces of information for consumers. For example, if a score factor is a high utilization, one solution is paying down debt.”
My credit score is 782. My wife’s score is very close to that if not higher. We are about to purchase a new home. At the same time, I need to take out a $20,000 personal loan to make a large purchase for the new home. We anticipate no issues with securing the mortgage or the personal loan, but I’d hate for my credit rating to go down if I just acquired the personal loan beforehand. How much of a hit should my credit rating take and would it cause problems securing the mortgage even if we would be well-qualified otherwise?
